Following the film’s premiere at TIFF, where the first reviews have started to surface online, A24 has announced that the new trailer for Heretic will drop tomorrow, September 19.
Heretic is written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the creative minds behind A Quiet Place and 65. Ahead of the trailer release, a new poster has been shared for the upcoming horror movie.
A24 is set to release Heretic in theaters on November 15, 2024.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Hugh Grant (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), Chloe East (The Fabelmans), and Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets). The plot centers around:
“Two young missionaries who find themselves trapped in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse after knocking on the wrong door and encountering the sinister Mr. Reed.”
The first trailer for Heretic keeps much of the plot shrouded in mystery, but it hints at a supernatural secret lurking behind Hugh Grant’s ominous character.
“It will make your hearts beat faster,” Grant’s villain tells his two captives. “It may even make you want to die.” He later promises, “You will witness a miracle.”
Whatever the truth may be, it seems poised to shake the missionaries’ faith to its core. Any ideas on what’s really going on here?
Beck and Woods previously co-wrote A Quiet Place with director John Krasinski and just last year wrote and directed the high-concept Adam Driver film 65.
They’ve also collaborated on other horror projects, including Haunt and the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman.
