BBC One is back with the police procedural drama series that takes place in the Scottish islands. Shetland season eight is a thriller from the get-go. Since Douglas Henshall dropped the series, Ashley Jensen’s character, Detective Inspector Ruth Calder takes the lead investigative role in a shift to the lead female role central character who must do her best to solve all the crimes that she’s tasked with.
Shetland is based on a series of novels masterfully penned by author Ann Cleeves. With a great cast, strong stories with plots and mysteries that will make your head spin, this police procedural series is one worthy of your time if you like British police procedural dramas.
Now, with Shetland season 8 in full swing and its episodes slowly making their way to the small screen, we prepared for you a scoop on what’s going on with the story, as well as where to watch this show both in the United Kingdom as well as abroad.
Preview
Shetland season eight kicked off with the police team having to deal with a crime that extends all the way to London, where a snitch gets killed by Cassidy’s goons. There’s a witness and it is up to Detective Inspector Ruth Calder to follow the lead. As she picks and searches through dead leads, she finds that there’s a drug smuggling ring hidden in a sheep farm. Then, Calder starts hounding on the two killers that popped the snitch.
Then, we see how Ruth investigates another murder in relation to the incident she initially investigated, and the more she digs, the more bodies she finds. Now it is up to her and her team to try and solve these murders and bring the culprits to justice in what promises to be a thrilling season in which the bad guys try to dupe the cops, the witnesses are too afraid to talk, and the police team must scramble and use their investigative skills as well as street wits to see if they can put some calm in the now troubled streets of the Shetland Islands.
