Romesh Ranganathan has remained a prominent figure in British comedy since the early 2000s, frequently weaving humor around his family dynamics involving his wife and children.
Despite her husband’s fame, Leesa Ranganathan consciously avoids the limelight, opting instead to offer unwavering support from the sidelines.
From headlining a new television series to participating in the London Marathon, Romesh consistently acknowledges his wife’s pivotal role in bolstering his career.
The 46-year-old presenter is poised to embark on a sold-out tour spanning the next two months, commencing in Brighton and traversing the UK and Ireland.
Dubbed “Hustle,” his tour will journey through cities such as Birmingham, Belfast, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and London, culminating in Manchester in early June.
Undoubtedly, the show promises a repertoire rich with comedic anecdotes about his life with Leesa. However, her nonchalant attitude remains steadfast, as Romesh once revealed:
“She genuinely sees it all as just comedy, and therefore meaningless.”
Meet Romesh Ranganathan’s Wife
Leesa and Romesh crossed paths while working together in 2009 at Hazelwick School in Crawley, before his ascent in stand-up comedy.
She served in the drama department, whereas Romesh was a mathematics teacher.
Despite their shared professional space, details about Leesa remain scarce, primarily filtered through Romesh’s anecdotes, including glimpses into their intimate life — or rather, its absence.
“It was a pretty frank discussion of what Leesa and I were experiencing passion-wise”, he revealed in his column for the Guardian in 2020.
He continued:
‘I have a vivid memory of seeing her face in the audience, looking completely calm, and then glancing across to our friends, who looked utterly horrified at the prospect of going out for dinner with a couple they now knew were definitely not having sex when they got home.’
Romesh humorously likened their intimate activities to making risotto, an analogy suggesting enjoyment but also acknowledging occasional reluctance, akin to the sentiment of enjoying something but often lacking the motivation to engage in it.
How Many Children Do Romesh And Leesa Have?
Despite Romesh’s candid admissions about their less-than-fiery home life, the couple shares three children: Theo, Alex, and Charlie.
The devoted father proudly sports tattoos of two of his sons’ names on his arm, a gesture not extended to their youngest, as revealed in 2019.
Initially, Romesh and Leesa had planned to commemorate the birth of their first son with matching tattoos.
However, as Romesh recounted, “she bottled it,” leaving him as the sole bearer of the inked tribute.
‘I got another done when my second son was born, but am yet to get a tattoo for our youngest,’ he said at the time.
The clock is ticking, because he is now learning to read, and will be upset when he discovers that, not only have I got his brothers’ names, but also Richard Pryor, Nas, the Roots and the Transformers’ Autobot logo before getting round to him.’
Net Worth
Thanks to his roles on shows like The Weakest Link, panel appearances, and extensive comedy tours, Romesh boasts an estimated net worth of £2.4 million.
A portion of this wealth stems from inheriting a pub from his father, serving as inspiration for his sitcom, The Reluctant Landlord.
Romesh’s father managed The Prince of Wales pub in East Grinstead for over a decade until his passing.
“It was an absolute disaster and then I just contacted the brewery and said we can’t do this any more. The pub doesn’t exist any more.
‘They kept telling us it was a viable pub location and then we abandoned it and they knocked it down, which gives you an idea about how honest they were being about that! We weren’t great at it.”
What I do think is sad is that pubs are just dying all over the country, and that pub went that way so it’s unfortunate.’
