The Discovery Channel show, Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch follows Duane Ollinger and his son Chad which premiered in 2021. In it, the father-son duo set out to hunt the great fortune of Aztec gold believed to be on their ranch.
However, the 160-acre ranch somewhere in Utah’s Uintah Basin is not a simple location. Several strange things there make the locals believe the land to be cursed. But, what’s more mind-boggling is the fact that they also assume this curse to be a protector of the hidden treasure in some indescribable way.
The Blind Frog Ranch is located near the infamous Skinwalker Ranch which is known for paranormal activities and sightings of UFOs which solidifies the “horror” stories and rumors about Duane’s ranch. Moreover, the underwater caves and caverns underneath the property are deemed to be unsafe for any sort of activity.
Duane, owner of the Blind Frog Ranch, first discovered an underground cavern system underneath his property which started his treasure-hunting quest. This discovery led to his decision to find the famous lost treasure that’s supposed to be hidden there, but nothing noteworthy has been found as of yet.
This father-son duo is determined to hunt the fortune of gold despite having next to zero experience in hunting, but whether they will succeed or not remains yet to be decided.
Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch Cast
The cast of Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch includes Duane Ollinger, his son Chad, his friend Charlie Snider, and Eric Drummond, a geologist who come together to discover a treasure that could change everybody’s lives.
Duane is an American reality TV star from Utah but before this show, he lived a normal life as a successful businessman. He had built an oil contracting company in Texas and was doing wonders with it. However, he sold it and invested that money to start this gold mining quest. Unfortunately, Duane doesn’t have anything else to do and he might have to just sell this property if he fails at uncovering the treasure.
Chad, Duane’s son is an American reality TV star who has appeared in TV shows before. Earlier, he used to compete in wrestling but soon, he gave that up and became a full-time traveler. He is married to Haley Ollinger and both of them were seen in Family Feud as participants in 2018. Like his father, Chad also sold his family home and business to fund the treasure hunt which might be pointless if they fail at it.
Charlie Snider was a sheriff’s deputy officer in the Ozarks who later got appointed as the Head of the security and investigation at Blind Frog Ranch. He is friends with Duane and has been on his gold-hunting quest since day one.
The world-renowned geologist, Eric has worked as a consultant in engineering geology, mineral exploration, and hydrogeology. He joined the show because Duane needed an expert’s help and guidance getting into the underground cavern. Along with his help, Duane and Chad have been trying their best to find the treasure.
About The Blind Frog Ranch
The Ollinger family bought Blind Frog Ranch with the hopes of discovering the buried treasure. Since the area is prone to lightning strikes and has been the site of paranormal activities, many are convinced about the presence of precious metals buried underneath the land. Additionally, the urban legends also agree with this belief.
However, there are other rumors about the land being cursed too. This stops people from pursuing their hunt and if they do, they end up failing at locating the hidden riches.
Duane has chosen to ignore these rumors and said that he believed the legends of the buried treasure he heard from the locals. He thinks it’s either gold from the Aztecs or Spaniards which is yet to be revealed. Moreover, he has seen the data from the satellite scans that confirm the gold is radiating from the caverns so he is hopeful.
Although the rumors haven’t stopped him from hunting, he admitted that not finding anything would be a huge letdown, as it should be since both he and his son sold everything for this ranch’s gold.
Is Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch Fake?
Although Discovery is a huge channel, there have been some instances that instigated doubt about the authenticity of Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch. Nothing official has been said on this topic but there’s a popular Reddit thread about this whole debate where people keep voicing their doubts.
Those who have seen the show comment that the excavations seem staged or set up for the sake of the show. One viewer even asked on Reddit if anybody had a clue about the actual location of this ranch. Later, there was the nugget and a Spanish coin the team pulled out of the same hole that also seemed fake.
Some even expressed that the cast members come off as actors which doesn’t work in the show’s favour. Although one can’t be sure enough about the show’s creditability and authenticity, the reviews and the show itself give us enough to decide for ourselves.
