Jill Jacobson, a talented film and television actress celebrated for her roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the primetime soap opera Falcon Crest, passed away on December 8 in Los Angeles at the age of 70.
Her death was confirmed to Variety by publicist and friend Daniel Harary, who shared that Jacobson died following a prolonged illness.
After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, Jacobson relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her acting dreams.
She began her career in the title role of the horror film Nurse Sherri and went on to make memorable appearances in several iconic television series, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Days of Our Lives, Hung, Newhart, Castle, and Who’s the Boss?
Jacobson was particularly recognized for her recurring roles on Falcon Crest and The New Gidget.
On Falcon Crest, she portrayed Erin Jones across 22 episodes, while she played Larue Wilson in eight episodes of The New Gidget, balancing both roles simultaneously.
Caryn Richman, her co-star from The New Gidget, reflected on Jacobson’s vibrant presence and comedic talent: “Jill’s comic timing was brilliant. And her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful.”
Jacobson’s extensive television career also included appearances on shows such as Crazy Like a Fox, Quantum Leap, Arliss, and Murphy Brown.
On the big screen, she worked on films like Ron Howard’s Splash, Bad Georgia Road, Forbidden Love, and Baby Sister.
In addition to her on-screen work, Jacobson graced the stage in numerous productions and showcased her wit in stand-up comedy routines at Los Angeles venues such as The Improv and The Comedy Store.
Beyond her entertainment career, Jacobson was deeply committed to philanthropy. She volunteered as a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society, embodying her passion for giving back to the community.
