The trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth has arrived—and it’s nothing short of epic. On Wednesday, February 5, the first look at the fourth Jurassic World film was revealed, showcasing stars Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson as they battle to survive against some of the most dangerous dinosaurs yet.
The sneak peek reveals that while only a handful of dinosaurs remain, three of them possess genetic material crucial to developing a potentially life-saving drug.
Covert operations specialist Zora Bennett (Johansson) is tasked with securing this material, but her mission takes a turn for the worse when she becomes stranded alongside a civilian family on an island harboring a long-hidden secret.
Rebirth will mark a fresh start for the franchise, separate from the original Jurassic World trilogy, which began in 2015 with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the lead roles. In this new installment, Bailey, 36, steps into the role of paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, while Johansson plays the highly skilled operative Zora Bennett.

Joining Bailey and Johansson in the all-new cast are Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.
The film also sees the return of screenwriter David Koepp, who wrote the original Jurassic Park screenplay as well as 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park. After previously turning down the opportunity to write the first Jurassic World film, Koepp is back to script Rebirth.
Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson in Jurassic World Rebirth
Ahead of the trailer’s release, director Gareth Edwards spoke about his dedication to recapturing the magic of Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic Jurassic Park. In a December 2024 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Edwards shared that while he “can’t speak for Universal,” the making of Jurassic World Rebirth “did feel like a new trilogy, in a way.”
“I’m not sure what [the studio’s] plans are, but it felt like the beginning of a brand-new chapter in this franchise,” he told the outlet, describing Rebirth as “a giant love letter to Steven Spielberg and his earlier films,” including Jaws.
“Jurassic Park revolutionized visual effects, but somewhere along the way, the industry became fixated on the spectacle,” Edwards explained. “The original film had only a few dozen VFX shots, yet it remains incredibly powerful.”
Scarlett Johansson Teases Jurassic World Script as ‘Incredible’
He continued, “I wanted to return to those classic techniques—the kind that build suspense, heighten tension, and keep audiences on the edge of their seats. My goal was to recreate that sense of awe I felt as a kid watching these creatures come to life.”
According to the studio’s official synopsis, the film takes place five years after the events of 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion.
Johansson’s character, Bennett, is enlisted for a high-stakes secret mission: to extract crucial genetic material from the three largest creatures on Earth. However, the operation takes an unexpected turn when she and her team cross paths with a civilian family stranded on the perilous, dinosaur-infested island.
Johansson, a veteran of blockbuster franchises, expressed her excitement about finally joining the Jurassic universe. “I’ve been trying to be part of this franchise in any way possible for over 10 years,” she revealed in June 2024.
“I was like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I’ll get eaten by anything! I’ll even do craft services!’ I just wanted to be part of it. The fact that it’s happening now, in this way, is unbelievable. I still can’t believe it.”
Jurassic World Rebirth roars into theaters on July 2, 2025.
