Kelly Clarkson is set to return to her self-titled talk show following a series of unexplained absences.
The Grammy-winning singer, 42, is expected to resume filming The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday, March 13, according to multiple reports. Clarkson’s recent streak of absences began on March 3, with Simu Liu stepping in as a guest host.
She returned to the hosting chair two days later but then took another break, during which celebrities such as Roy Wood Jr., Wanda Sykes, Brooke Shields, and Willie Geist temporarily took over her hosting duties.
While Clarkson will be back on set on Thursday, Molly Sims will reportedly serve as the show’s host for the remainder of the week, on Thursday and Friday, March 14, as those episodes have already been filmed.
Thursday’s guest lineup will feature Patrick Schwarzenegger and Bryan Greenberg, while Friday’s episode will include appearances from Amanda Seyfried, Nicholas Pinnock, and Sir Woman.
Clarkson’s continued absence is reportedly due to a personal matter. In addition to hosting her talk show, she has been busy preparing for her upcoming Las Vegas residency, set to take place at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from July 4 through November 15. (Us Weekly previously reached out to her representative for comment.)
Currently in its sixth season, Clarkson’s daytime talk show debuted in 2019. Back in December 2024, the show was renewed for a seventh season, which will air during the 2025-2026 TV season.
“Kelly Clarkson is a national treasure. We couldn’t wait to announce another season of The Kelly Clarkson Show, fresh off the top-rated Christmas in Rockefeller Center, in which Kelly hosted,” Tracie Wilson, executive vice president of Syndication Studios and E! News at NBCUniversal, stated to multiple outlets at the time.
“There’s an appetite in talk for stories that entertain and inspire, and The Kelly Clarkson Show is a shining star that delivers for our stations and connects with viewers across multiple generations in meaningful ways.”
Over the years, Clarkson has gone viral for her candid celebrity interviews and her popular “Kellyoke” song covers. She has also made her show a family affair by bringing her 10-year-old daughter, River, and 8-year-old son, Remy, onto the set.
Remy, in particular, delighted audiences when he showcased his impressive singing ability with a cover of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” before a November 2024 episode taping.
“How did you feel about the clip going viral? Remember when I came and I told you, I was like, ‘Everybody’s loving your video,’” Clarkson asked her son during the January 8 episode of the show. Remy humorously responded, “Yeah, how much views did I get again?”
Clarkson jokingly added, “I said, ‘Man, buddy. You’ve got, like, over a million views on your [cover].’ And he goes, ‘Do you get that many views?’ I was like, ‘Calm down, and not often.’”
River has also inherited Clarkson’s musical talents and spoke about her passion for songwriting and singing in the same January episode.
“I like to write and like to sing, so I put that together in a journal that I forgot at home ’cause I am a forgetter,” she admitted. “But I do that a lot in my room, and I spend hours and hours and hours trying to do a song.”
