Kevin Jonas has disclosed that he recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous mole from his forehead. The 36-year-old singer shared his experience on Tuesday, June 11, via an Instagram video to emphasize the importance of regular skin checks.
In the video, Jonas is seen on an examination table just before the surgery. “So today I am getting a basal cell carcinoma removed from my head,” he said candidly. “Yes, that is an actual little skin cancer guy that is starting to grow and now I have to get surgery to remove it. So here we go.”
Jonas briefly shows the mole on his forehead, situated just beneath his hairline, before turning off the camera.
In the next segment of the video, a hand is seen gently removing a bandage from the area, with Jonas adding a shocked face emoji for emphasis. He then mimics a shocked expression himself before the video cuts out once more.
In the final part of the video, Jonas is in a vehicle and updates his viewers. “Alright, I’m all done. Now it’s time to heal. Heading home,” he says. “Make sure to get those moles checked, people.”
Jonas also included a caption on the post: “Friendly reminder to get your moles checked.”
Fans responded with relief and support in the comments, with one writing, “You just scared us a bunch!!!,” and another adding, “Praying for you!!! Glad you are ok.”
This health scare follows a week of joy for Jonas and his family. His 10-year-old daughter, Alena, recently dressed up as her father, which amused him greatly. Jonas, who is married to Danielle Jonas and has two daughters, Alena and Valentina, 7, posted a side-by-side photo of himself and Alena on X on Thursday, June 6.
“When your daughter dresses up as you for New Jersey day,” he captioned the photo, showing Alena in double denim and a curly brown wig, perfectly mimicking her dad’s style.
Jonas’ diagnosis comes amid a trend of celebrities revealing their own experiences with basal cell carcinoma. Richard Simmons announced on Facebook in March that he discovered a similar cancerous bump under his eye.
Christie Brinkley also shared on Instagram that she had caught her basal cell carcinoma early and praised the “great Doctors” who removed the cancer and provided impeccable care.
