Kris Jenner discussed her upcoming ovarian surgery and revealed additional health concerns in a recent episode of The Kardashians.
During the episode aired on Thursday, July 4, Kris, 68, sat down with her daughters Khloé Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, and Kendall Jenner to talk about her medical situation.
“I went to the doctor and had a scan, and they found—this just makes me really emotional—a cyst and a small tumor on my ovary,” Kris disclosed. “I need to have my ovaries removed.”
The reality star became emotional as she spoke, saying, “I’m upset because that’s where all my kids were conceived and grew. It’s a very sacred place for me.”
While explaining her feelings, Kris admitted she was grappling with the impact of the surgery.
“The emotional part for me is just having that removed,” she said.
“If I can get through a hip replacement, I can get through this. I’m not nervous about being put to sleep, but it becomes very real when you’re actually facing it. It’s also a marker of aging and signifies the end of a chapter in my life.”
Kris first became a mother with Robert Kardashian, her husband from 1978 to 1991. They had four children together: Kourtney Kardashian, Kim, 43, Khloé, 40, and Rob Kardashian.
After her divorce from Robert, who passed away in 2003, Kris married Caitlyn Jenner, with whom she shares daughters Kendall, 28, and Kylie Jenner. Kris and Caitlyn separated in 2013 after twenty years of marriage.
Kim Kardashian reacted to the news of her mother’s surgery, telling the cameras, “Having a surgery to remove an ovary is a really big deal. I feel very sad for her. I can’t even imagine how frightening it must be to go through that.”
Kourtney, 45, expressed her empathy for her mother’s feelings, saying,
“I completely understand how my mom feels because I would feel the same way. It’s like losing a part of her womanhood, and although it doesn’t take away who she is, there’s a sentimental aspect to what it has created.”
Kendall, however, questioned why Kris was not focusing solely on her health.
“I get why she’s emotional because she brought all her kids into the world through this,” Kendall said. “But if they’re potentially causing her harm, why not remove them?”
In the preview for the next episode, Kris is seen discussing potential risks with Kathy Hilton and Faye Resnick, saying, “It started out as just getting my ovaries removed, but then I got a phone call today.”
The episode also covered Kourtney’s efforts to return to work after the birth of her son Rocky with Travis Barker and the family’s trip to Colorado, where Kim and Khloé worked on resolving their differences regarding parenting. New episodes of The Kardashians are released on Hulu every Thursday.
