Kristen Bell took a moment to honor the often-overlooked, unglamorous roles that actors take on early in their careers while hosting the 2025 SAG Awards.
During her opening monologue, she performed a parody of her iconic “Frozen” song, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” highlighting the humble beginnings of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Kathy Bates and Colin Farrell.
“If you really want to be an actor / It can be a bumpy sometimes / Questioning your ability / There’s no capability / Put aside your pride / But everybody’s starting somewhere as we hone our craft,” she sang.
She also acknowledged the Los Angeles firefighters, who had a dedicated table at the ceremony in recognition of their service.
The show kicked off with a comedic sketch featuring the cast of “Hacks,” depicting the moment Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) discovers she’s been fired from hosting the SAG Awards due to unpaid dues. The sketch concluded with her eagerly accepting an offer to take The Substance.
This year’s ceremony marked Bell’s second time as host, having previously led the 24th SAG Awards in 2018.
Following her, Megan Mullally hosted in 2019, but for the next four years, the show went without a host until Bell’s return was confirmed earlier this year.
“Thrilled to be hosting the SAG Awards again this year,” Bell said in a statement after the announcement. “I’m honored to be asked back and can’t wait to share the evening with my fellow actors, doing what we do best… celebrating ourselves.”
While this is Bell’s second time hosting the SAG Awards, it also marks her first time attending as a nominee, having earned a nomination for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series for her role in “Nobody Wants This.”
“Kristen Bell’s wit, warmth and charm make her the perfect fit for our show – a night celebrating actors and the outstanding performances of the year,” said SAG Awards executive producer Jon Brockett. “Plus, everybody wants this.”
The 2025 SAG Awards mark the second year the ceremony has streamed live on Netflix, following a multi-year partnership as SAG-AFTRA seeks to expand its live event programming.
This is also the second consecutive year the show has been produced by Silent House Productions, with Brockett returning as executive producer alongside Silent House’s Baz Halpin, Mark Bracco, and Linda Gierahn.
