Kyle Richards recently opened up about facing significant challenges while filming season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Reflecting on one particular scene where she walked off set, Richards, 55, admitted that she didn’t feel like herself at the time, nor did she feel strong enough to cope.
“Honestly, to be shooting the show at that time, I just really needed the women to kind of be there for me and support me.
And obviously, I didn’t feel that at all, so it just magnified my situation,” Richards shared in the exclusive interview ahead of the show’s premiere on Tuesday, November 19.
At the time of filming, Richards was adjusting to her recent separation from Mauricio Umansky, whom she had been with for nearly 30 years. The couple announced their split in July 2023, though they have not yet filed for divorce.
Richards also revealed feeling “nervous” about watching certain parts of the season, particularly confessionals where she spoke openly about herself and her castmates.
“You know, when you’re talking about conflict with other women and you’re upset in the moment, you say things,” she explained.
“Now we’ve prepared things, and you’ve got to go back and relive that, and it just kicks all those feelings back up again, so I’m not looking forward to it.”
Despite feeling regretful about some of her actions, Richards is taking accountability. “I’m sure I’ve said things I wish I hadn’t or commented on things I shouldn’t have, but we don’t have that luxury doing what we do,” she said.
“I regret walking out that day. I regret not being in a stronger place and just holding my head high and saying what I needed from them instead of crumbling.”
As the only remaining original cast member on RHOBH, Richards acknowledged that her emotional outburst was a first in her 14-year tenure on the show.
“It’s the first time that’s happened to me in 14 years. I’ve never called in sick. I’ve never not shown up to shoot,” she reflected. “I just needed a break, and… I just couldn’t do this. I had to let them know I couldn’t shoot.”
Amid doubts about whether RHOBH was still right for her, Richards expressed gratitude that the cast and crew showed her compassion, allowing her the time to focus on her well-being.
“It helped me to reflect and rest and think about coming back, and what that means,” she said. “And needless to say, I showed up after taking some time off.”
Fans got their first glimpse of Richards’ intense season when the official trailer for RHOBH dropped last month. In the preview, she is seen declaring she’s “done” with the show and the cast before storming out of an event.
Speaking in her October cover story after being named the publication’s Reality Star of the Year, Richards admitted, “I had a meltdown.
My first in 14 years. I was like, ‘I don’t think I can physically do this anymore.’ I walked off the set and didn’t shoot the next day. I was at my breaking point. I have so much on my plate, and some of the women just push.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 is set to premiere on Bravo on Tuesday, November 19, at 8 PM ET.
