On June 24, 2025, Lee Kyung Kyu was officially booked by Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station for driving under the influence of drugs.
The incident reportedly occurred on June 8 around 2 a.m. in the Nonhyeon neighborhood of Gangnam, Seoul.
Lee was driving a car that wasn’t his—due to a parking attendant’s mistake—and the vehicle was suspected to be stolen.
Police conducted a drug reagent test at the scene, which came back positive. The National Forensic Service confirmed the positive result, prompting police to move from investigation to formal booking.

Authorities are currently questioning Lee Kyung Kyu regarding the charges.
Lee’s agency responded, explaining that he has been treating panic disorder for 10 years and was on prescribed medication.
The night before the incident, he experienced severe symptoms, took his medication, and despite feeling unwell, drove himself to a doctor the next day.
The agency emphasized that all medications were legally prescribed and that Lee showed the police his medications. They stated he is deeply remorseful and taking the matter seriously.
However, police clarified that even legally prescribed medications can lead to charges of drug-impaired driving if they impair concentration or driving ability.
Under Article 45 of the Road Traffic Act, driving under the influence of any substance affecting driving is prohibited, regardless of whether the drugs are prescription-based.
