Michelle Pfeiffer is set to take on a new role in the “Yellowstone” universe. The three-time Oscar nominee will star in and executive produce a “Yellowstone” spinoff series titled “The Madison,” created by Taylor Sheridan.
“The Madison,” previously in development under the title “2024,” centers on a New York City family living in the Madison River valley of central Montana. According to Paramount, the series is “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection.”
“Michelle Pfeiffer is an extraordinary talent who brings emotional depth, authenticity, and grace to every role she plays.
She is the ideal choice to anchor the newest chapter of the ‘Yellowstone’ universe, ‘The Madison,’ crafted by the brilliant Taylor Sheridan,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO and president and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios.
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions, “The Madison” will have an impressive team of executive producers including Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Christina Voros, Michael Friedman, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Keith Cox.
“The Madison” will join other “Yellowstone” spinoffs like “1883” and “1923,” with additional series set in the same television universe currently in development. In the meantime, the final episodes of “Yellowstone”—without Kevin Costner—are scheduled to premiere on November 10 on Paramount+.
Costner, who starred in “Yellowstone” for the first five and a half seasons, departed the series after disagreements with Paramount over the decision to split Season 5 into two parts.
This scheduling conflict interfered with his work on his four-part Western film series, “Horizon: An American Saga.” Although Costner expressed a desire to conclude his storyline as the ranch-owning patriarch John Dutton, he and the network were ultimately unable to reach an agreement.
