Actor Gabriel Olds has been arrested on seven felony charges of sexual assault. The 52-year-old was taken into custody on Wednesday, August 7, following accusations related to alleged crimes involving at least three victims.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Olds allegedly leveraged his status as a Yale University alumnus and his Hollywood career to connect with women on dating apps.
The investigation began when a woman reported in 2023 that Olds had raped her. Since then, two more women have come forward with their own allegations, with incidents dating back to 2013.
The unnamed victims stated that they initially went on consensual dates with Olds, but the encounters allegedly escalated to sexual assault.
Law enforcement officials mentioned that two additional women had reported incidents of less severe violent sexual conduct.
Investigators believe there could be more victims across the country due to Olds’ extensive travels over the years.
LAPD Detective Brent Hopkins stated that authorities “heard the same story again and again” from the alleged victims.
“Mr. Olds initially presented himself as charming, but then resorted to brutal violence to commit these rapes,” Hopkins said in a statement.
“Some of these survivors endured in silence for years before finding the courage to speak out. Now that he’s off the streets, we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to be heard.”
Olds’ bail has been set at $3.5 million, and he remains in custody. Authorities are encouraging any additional alleged victims or witnesses to come forward.
Before his arrest, Olds had a career spanning several decades in film and television. He made his debut in 14 Going On 30 and appeared in various shows including Party of Five, CSI, Law & Order, Charmed, Six Feet Under, Criminal Minds, Heroes, Private Practice, NCIS and its spinoffs NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans.
More recently, Olds appeared in episodes of Elementary, SEAL Team, Blindspot, FBI: International, and The Rookie: Feds. He also had a role in the film The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
