Northern Ireland singer and entertainer Rose-Marie Kane has passed away at the age of 68. Originally from County Down, she released 19 albums and achieved significant success, including sold-out shows at the London Palladium and appearances on The Royal Variety Show. Her legacy in the entertainment industry is substantial.
In addition to her music career, Rose-Marie Kane was a television and radio personality, and she served as a judge on the BBC talent show “Go For It.”
Her presence extended beyond the stage, leaving an impact in various facets of entertainment.
Rose-Marie Kane, the eldest of six children, grew up on a farm outside Newry. Her upbringing in a rural setting likely influenced her life and career, shaping her into the remarkable entertainer she became.
A post on her Facebook page said:
“It is with heavy hearts and enormous great sadness, that we have to announce the sudden passing of our much loved Rose-Marie, in her beloved second home of Blackpool. Rest in Peace, dear heart.”
The Belfast based radio and TV presenter Robin Elliott was friends with Ms Kane.
He said he was “totally devastated” in a post on Facebook.
“We shall miss her terribly,” he said.
Former BBC Radio Bedfordshire station editor, Mike Gibbons said:
“It was a real joy to have Rose-Marie as one of our guest presenters, working particularly with the Irish and country music communities in Luton and the three counties, of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
“She was a great, intuitive presenter and everybody loved her.”
