Fatman Scoop, whose real name is Isaac Freeman III, was rushed to the hospital after collapsing during a concert performance.
The incident occurred while the rapper was onstage at Town Center Park in Hamden, Conn., on Friday, Aug. 30. The town’s mayor, Lauren Garrett, confirmed the news in a Facebook post.
“Tonight, while performing at Hamden Town Center Park, Isaac Freeman, aka Fatman Scoop, experienced a medical emergency on stage,” Garrett wrote about the 53-year-old artist.
“He is being transported by ambulance to the hospital. We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”
It was reported that authorities were alerted to the medical emergency at 8:33 p.m. on Aug. 30.
Footage of the incident, posted on X (formerly Twitter), shows Freeman shirtless as he walks from the front of the stage to a raised DJ booth at the back.
Holding a microphone, he called out, “I said, Hamden make some noise!” before stepping up onto the booth.
The rapper then stood beside the DJ, leaning forward on the booth as he continued, “Way down… If you came to party… make some noise…”
Suddenly, Freeman leaned to his side, knocking into the DJ before collapsing behind the booth.
Additional footage shared by TMZ shows what appeared to be medics in high-visibility vests administering chest compressions to Freeman as he lay motionless behind the booth, while concerned concertgoers looked on.
One attendee can be heard in the clip saying, “They’re doing CPR.”
Towards the end of the video, another concertgoer captured more people tending to Freeman as they seemingly prepared to move him from the stage to be transported to the hospital. The individual filming can be heard exclaiming, “Oh my god.”
