Reacher Spinoff Focusing on Neagley Played By Maria Sten Greenlit on Prime Video

Neagley Played By Maria Sten

The Reacher universe is set to grow even larger. Prime Video has officially greenlit a spinoff of its hit action drama, focusing on Frances Neagley, a former military colleague and occasional partner of Jack Reacher (played by Alan Ritchson).

Maria Sten, who has portrayed Neagley in both seasons of Reacher and will return for the upcoming third season, will reprise her role in this as-yet-untitled spinoff.

Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios (which is taking over from the now-defunct Paramount Television Studios) will produce the Neagley series, just as they do with Reacher.

The spinoff is being co-created by Reacher showrunner Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton, known for his work on Prison Break and NYPD Blue.

“As Reacher continues to deeply resonate with audiences around the world, expanding the story and its characters with a spinoff felt like an easy decision,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios.

“With Nick and Nicholas leading the charge, alongside our partners Skydance and CBS Studios, we’re confident that this new chapter, led by the talented Maria Sten, will both honor the legacy of Reacher and bring new energy and excitement to fans old and new.”

Santora and Wootton added, “Lee Child created such a rich, multifaceted character in Neagley, and Maria Sten brought her to life with remarkable depth and authenticity in Reacher.

Amazon, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios have been incredible partners from day one, and we’re excited to further look through Neagley’s story and what makes her such a unique character.”

The spinoff will follow Neagley in her role as a private investigator based in Chicago.

Jack Reacher and Neagley

According to the show’s synopsis, “When she discovers that a close friend from her past has died in a suspicious accident, she becomes determined to seek justice.

Using everything she learned from Jack Reacher and her time in the elite 110 Special Investigators unit, Neagley sets off on a perilous path to uncover a dark conspiracy.”

Skydance’s chief creative officer, Dana Goldberg, expressed enthusiasm for the new project: “We’re thrilled to expand the Reacher world with Amazon and CBS Studios, and focus on the beloved character of Neagley with the extraordinary Maria Sten.

Nick Santora has done a phenomenal job adapting Lee Child’s Reacher novels for the screen. With Nick and Nicholas Wootton at the helm, audiences are in for another gripping adventure in the Reacher universe.”

Sten shared her excitement as well, stating, “I’m beyond excited to dive deeper into Neagley’s world and her enigmatic backstory. She’s such a fantastic character to portray, and I can’t wait for viewers to get to know her better.”

Santora and Wootton will serve as executive producers for the Neagley series, alongside Reacher author Lee Child, Don Granger, Lisa Kussner, and Skydance TV’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell. Carolyn Harris, Kenny Madrid, and Niko Fernandez will oversee the project for Skydance.

The spinoff further strengthens the collaborative relationship between Prime Video and Skydance.

The two companies have also teamed up on Jack Ryan , the forthcoming Cross and The Runarounds, an action-adventure series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, as well as a documentary series about the 2022 University of Idaho murders.

In addition to her work on Reacher, Sten is known for her roles in the 2019 Swamp Thing series and Syfy’s Channel Zero. She is represented by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, The Initiative Group, and Granderson Des Rochers.
