Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans are on a holiday mission to rescue Christmas.
In a newly released, high-energy trailer for Red One, shared by Amazon MGM Studios on Sunday, Chris Evans plays a bounty hunter who is unexpectedly kidnapped and taken to the North Pole, where he learns that Santa Claus has been abducted.
Evans’ character teams up with Dwayne Johnson, who portrays the North Pole’s head of security, in this action-comedy as they go on a mission to find the missing Santa.
Red One is scheduled to premiere in theaters on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024.
“Are you saying Santa Claus has been kidnapped?” Evans’ character asks after being briefed on the situation, learning that “Red One,” or Santa, is missing.
In the trailer, Evans expresses his reluctance about working with Johnson’s character, yet the two are forced to collaborate to locate the beloved Christmas figure.
“You’re mine until we find him,” Lucy Liu’s character declares to Evans in the preview.
The magical charm of the North Pole comes to life in the trailer with scenes that feature a human-like polar bear, supply closets acting as portal systems, and a variety of fantastical creatures that aid the duo on their quest to save Christmas.
According to the film’s official synopsis, after Santa is kidnapped, Johnson’s character “must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter,” played by Evans, in a globe-spanning, action-packed adventure to rescue the holiday.
Directed by Jake Kasdan, Red One also stars J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus, along with Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, and Lucy Liu.
