With production slated to begin later this year on the next chapter of the Spider-Man franchise, series lead Tom Holland appears to have found a new co-star—one with plenty of experience in high-profile franchises.
Sources tell that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is set to join the upcoming sequel from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. Holland is already confirmed to reprise his role as Peter Parker.
The film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing.
As for Sink’s role, speculation is already running rampant. The leading theory suggests she could be introduced as the X-Men character Jean Grey, but it’s also possible she could take on another beloved red-haired character from Spider-Man lore.
What is certain is that her role will be a significant one, particularly in light of how the last installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, ended—with Parker choosing to finalize Doctor Strange’s spell that erased his existence from the memories of everyone around him.
Given that storyline, it’s likely that some of Holland’s past castmates will have smaller roles while new characters are introduced to the ensemble, with Sink marking the first major casting addition.
Holland is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and the plan is for him to move straight into production on Spider-Man once he wraps work on Nolan’s project.
For Sink, this new role comes at a pivotal moment in her career, as she bids farewell to the character that helped propel her to stardom.
The final season of Stranger Things recently completed filming, and with its premiere slated for later this year, it remains one of the most anticipated television events of 2025.
Meanwhile, Sink’s upcoming projects continue to keep her busy. She can next be seen in Searchlight’s musical O’Dessa, which recently had its world premiere at SXSW.
Her performance earned strong reviews, and the film is set to debut next week on Hulu. Before stepping into the Spider-Man universe, she will also take the stage in the Broadway play John Proctor Is the Villain, which officially opens on April 4.
Sink is represented by WME, Mara Entertainment, and Peikoff Mahan.
