Sara Bareilles is offering insights into her wedding planning adventure. At the premiere of the latest season of her show Girls5eva on Thursday, the 44-year-old Waitress star shared updates on her preparations for tying the knot with her fiancé, actor Joe Tippett, 42.
“Oh man, we were aiming for this year,” Bareilles tol in an interview. “But with his shooting schedule, I think it might be too hard to pull it together this year, so it might get pushed to next year.”
The “Love Song” singer continued, “But the funny thing is, we went to look at venues, and it was really fun. That’s just my worry. I worry that I’m going to lose sight of what we’re doing. I don’t want it to become about producing a big party.”
During the interview, Bareilles disclosed a couple of essentials for her big day: “Delicious food and people being warm” are at the forefront. She also noted that she and Tippett have recently hired a wedding planner to ease the stress of planning.
“I want to just be rooted in the joy and the celebration of finding someone I love this much and wanting to shout it from the mountaintops,” she added.
Bareilles and Tippett’s journey began in 2015 while collaborating on Waitress at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They made their relationship public two years later, appearing together at the opening night for All the Fine Boys, a production featuring Tippett.
On New Year’s Day in 2023, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram. “Yes to marrying this man. It’s an easy, earned, relaxed YES,” Bareilles wrote alongside a photo.
Tippett proposed with a stylish gold feather band, complemented by Bareilles wearing crescent moon-shaped earrings, a blue velvet top, and a sparkly headband in their announcement photo.
In June 2023, the Grammy winner told about the placeholder gold ring, clarifying that the ring Tippett proposed with was temporary.
“We found this cheap little ring in a market that we both love, and we were like, ‘That’s the thing for now!'”
In January, the singer announced on Instagram that Tippett had selected an engagement ring “at an antique store upstate.”
She shared a post featuring her displaying the ring while holding various household items. Additionally, she included a clear image of just the ring on her hand.
