Ozzy Osbourne made headlines in August 2022 when he announced that he and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, were planning to move back to the United Kingdom after over twenty years in Los Angeles.
However, nearly two years later, the couple still hasn’t made the move, as they discussed on a recent episode of The Osbournes Podcast released on Tuesday, July 16.
“We’re trying to get on a flight,” said 75-year-old Ozzy in response to a listener’s question about the planned relocation.
Sharon, 71, elaborated, explaining that Ozzy’s health issues have been the primary obstacle.
The Black Sabbath singer revealed in a January episode of the podcast that he has undergone “seven surgeries in the past five years,” including his fourth spinal surgery in September 2023.
He also continues to receive treatment for symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, with which he was diagnosed in 2003.
“It just seems that every time we’re set to go, something happens with Ozzy’s health,” Sharon shared on Tuesday.
“We’ll get there,” she assured. “We want to go back so badly, but we’ll get there. Won’t we, Ozzy?”
“Yeah,” Ozzy responded, with Sharon encouraging him further. “We will.” Previously, Ozzy expressed that part of his desire to leave the U.S. was driven by the country’s political climate and gun violence.
“Everything’s f—— ridiculous there,” he told The Observer in an interview published on Aug. 28, 2022. “I’m fed up with people getting killed every day.
God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert… It’s f—— crazy.”
“I don’t want to die in America,” Ozzy added, referring to the famous Los Angeles cemetery. “I don’t want to be buried in f—— Forest Lawn. I’m English. I want to be back. … It’s just time for me to come home.”
Sharon agreed, saying, “America has changed so drastically. It isn’t the United States of America at all. Nothing’s united about it. It’s a very weird place to live right now.”
The couple — parents to Kelly Osbourne, 39, Jack Osbourne, 38, Aimee Osbourne, 40, and Ozzy’s children from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, Jessica and Louis — initially planned to move back to the U.K. in February 2023, according to The Observer.
At that time, their Buckinghamshire home was being renovated to include a swimming pool and a music studio for Ozzy.
Ozzy has been providing regular updates about his health on The Osbournes Podcast.
In January, he highlighted the positive effects of sobriety after struggling with addiction for decades, noting that a recent doctor’s visit showed “my blood clots are gone” and “everything’s back to normal.”
Despite these improvements, the emotional toll of his health challenges has been significant.
When asked by a listener on Tuesday’s episode about “the one thing you’ve lost, misplaced or given up you wish you could have again,” Ozzy responded, “My health.”
“When you lose your health, nothing else f—— matters,” he emphasized.
