Slipknot’s turntablist, Sid Wilson, is on the mend after suffering burns in an accident, according to a recent announcement by the band.
In a post shared on Slipknot’s official Instagram page on Friday, the band revealed, “Our brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and sustained burns across his body.”
The statement continued, “He’s recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend. He thanks everyone for the well wishes and will see you all soon.”
Wilson also shared updates on his own Instagram page, posting videos from the hospital. In the first video, he explained that he “had an explosion in my face,” noting that his eyebrows, mouth, face, and arms were all affected by the burns.
Despite the injuries, Wilson reassured his fans, saying, “I’m going to be alright. I don’t care what it takes, I’ll see you on tour.” He added that his burns “sting a lot.”
In a subsequent video filmed in an ambulance en route to a different hospital with a specialized burn center, Wilson mentioned that he might need to have his head shaved to check for additional burns.
He once again assured his followers, saying, “I’m going to be OK,” and that he is “in good hands.”
Wilson clarified in the second clip that the accident was “not from a show,” but occurred while he was “out working on the farm.”
He didn’t provide further details but advised his followers to “be really safe when you’re messing with fire.”
Wilson’s partner, Kelly Osbourne, also shared videos from the hospital, where she was with their son. In an Instagram story, Osbourne said, “He literally set himself on fire and exploded everything.”
She later expressed gratitude for the support and mentioned that she was on her way to pick Wilson up from the hospital.
The videos shared by both Wilson and Osbourne showed his arms and hands heavily bandaged.
Slipknot is scheduled to perform at the Rocklahoma Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, from August 30 to September 1.
