Sony has just released the final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, and it introduces a new formidable foe: Knull, an extraterrestrial enemy.
From the looks of the trailer, Knull prefers to do battle in high-stakes environments—such as on top of a jet. But be careful about saying his name, as it’s best left unspoken, much like Beetlejuice.
“My home… has found us,” Venom ominously warns Eddie. “Who sent that thing?” Eddie asks. “My creator,” Venom responds, adding, “We have something he needs.”
Meanwhile, Juno Temple, portraying a scientist in the film, sheds light on the bigger picture: “The symbiotes didn’t come here by accident.”
Kelly Marcel, who has been the screenwriter for the Venom franchise, makes her directorial debut with *The Last Dance*, a movie she also wrote and produced.
Fans can expect plenty of chaotic body humor this time around, with scenes involving food flying and Eddie’s (Tom Hardy) unpredictable behavior—like hitting someone while they’re using a urinal. Of course, Venom’s influence is to blame for Eddie’s actions.
The movie’s synopsis teases: Eddie and Venom are on the run, hunted by both their worlds, with the net closing in.
The duo is faced with a devastating decision that will bring an end to their saga, marking their “last dance.” The film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham.
Produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy, and Hutch Parker, Venom: The Last Dance is the final installment in the trilogy—at least for now, unless the box office returns say otherwise.
The Venom franchise has grossed $1.36 billion globally across its first two films. The Last Dance is set to be released in China, a market where the first movie earned $270 million.
Sony has promoted this as the final film in the trilogy, but only time—and box office success—will tell if that’s truly the case.
The third installment of the Sony Marvel series is scheduled to hit theaters on October 25.
