The primary actors in the upcoming adult animation series “Hazbin Hotel” have been cast as Stephanie Beatriz, Keith David, and Kimiko Glenn. The first season of the show will premiere only on Prime Video in January 2024.
The whole cast of voice actors for the series was unveiled by Prime Video during the New York Comic Con event, along with a preview of the original song “Happy Day in Hell.” The core cast for the first season includes Amir Talai as Alastor, Keith David as Husk, Erika Henningsen as Charlie, Kimiko Glenn as Niffty, Alex Brightman as Sir Pentious, Blake Roman as Angel Dust, and Stephanie Beatriz as Vaggie.
The demon characters Vox and Valentino will also receive voiceovers from Christian Borle and Joel Perez, completing the exceptional voice cast.
What does the series “Hazbin Hotel” follow?
The protagonist of the animated musical comedy series is Charlie, the princess of Hell (played by Erika Henningsen). Her goal is to help devils get better in order to solve the overpopulation problem in her world. The premise of the show is that Charlie opens a hotel in the hopes that its guests will find their way to Heaven following a yearly extinction ordered by angels.
She has the unflinching support of her devoted companion Vaggie (played by Stephanie Beatriz) and their first test subject, the adult film star Angel Dust (played by Blake Roman), despite the ridicule she receives from many in Hell.
A strong being known as the “Radio Demon” agrees to help Charlie as her ambitious plan starts to take shape, giving her a chance to make her seemingly impossible goal come true.
The animated pilot episode that “Hazbin Hotel” creator Medrano posted to YouTube in 2019 served as the inspiration for the television series. With over 89 million views, the pilot enjoyed tremendous popularity. In addition to being the show’s creator, Medrano also serves as the series’ executive producer and director.
The executive producers for A24 are Scott Greenberg, Dana Tafoya-Cameron, and Joel Kuwahara; Greenberg was particularly involved in the first season. A24 and Fox Entertainment’s Emmy-winning animation company, Bento Box Entertainment, collaborated to produce the series.
The first season of “Hazbin Hotel,” which consists of eight episodes, will be available exclusively on Prime Video starting in January 2024. It will be accessible in more than 240 nations and territories worldwide.
More about the Hazbin Hotel series
Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano is the creator of the American adult animated musical television series “Hazbin Hotel”. A spin-off series named “Helluva Boss,” which debuted on October 31, 2020, and featured a different cast of characters in the same fictitious universe, was created by Medrano as a result of the pilot’s success.
Some of the characters from the pilot had their roots in earlier episodes, and when Medrano worked with people at SVA, the project started to take shape. The pilot was originally intended to be an adult comedy with a daring, demonic aesthetic. The episode’s writing took more than six months, while the animation took more than two years (from 2017 to 2019) to finish. To grow a fan base, teasers were released around this time.
Several LGBTQ characters from the series are included, including the gay character Angel Dust, the bisexual character Charlie, the lesbian character Vaggie, and the asexual character Alastor.
By August 2020, “Hazbin Hotel” had garnered a devoted and fervent following. By June 2023, over 86 million people had watched the original 31-minute pilot, a huge increase over the 32 million views it received in May 2020.
John Evershed, the creator of Mondo Media, singled out the series as a striking exception among YouTube shows that made the switch to long-form TV series in his analysis of the development of adult animation. He emphasized that A24 decided to produce the show as a TV series due to the show’s significant attention and viewership.
