Taylor Frankie Paul isn’t proud of the events that unfold at the end of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiere.
After a night of heavy drinking and an intense argument with her boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, which leads to her arrest, Taylor experiences a moment of clarity regarding the direction her life is taking.
The argument became so heated that neighbors could hear the commotion, prompting the arrival of the police. Body camera footage from the series shows Taylor intoxicated.
As officers arrive, she accuses Dakota of being drunk as well, but he denies it, telling the police that he is sober.
“She just attacked the crap out of me,” Dakota is heard telling the police, while Taylor responds, “You threw me in the garage.”
Police separate the couple to hear both sides of the story. Dakota explains to one officer, “She was throwing metal chairs at me left and right. She put a hole in the wall. I was actually a little bit scared for my life.”
Taylor, speaking to another officer, says, “I peed my pants because I was so afraid of him in my garage.” The interaction ends with Taylor tearfully turning around as she is handcuffed and arrested.
Reflecting on that night, Taylor admits, “Getting arrested was the worst night of my life. I ended up being charged with aggravated assault and given three years of probation.”
At the time of her arrest, Taylor was coping with the emotional aftermath of an unexpected ectopic pregnancy.
In the second episode, she reveals that despite the challenges, she and Dakota have chosen to continue working on their relationship. The camera then reveals that she is pregnant again.
“It’s been a challenge going from the scandal to our relationship, then to a miscarriage, arrest, and now being pregnant again,” she shares.
Taylor acknowledges the difficulty of going through these personal struggles in the public eye.
“After the arrest, I was under so much stress. I was filmed leaving jail, and then that footage was immediately online,” she says. “It ended up being a blessing in disguise because it helped me wake up.”
In a conversation with her mother, Taylor expresses her fears, admitting that she’s “not all in.”
“I’m so scared of getting hurt. I’ve done everything to push him away. I think it’s more of a test—like, are you going to stick with me through thick and thin?”
Taylor reveals that Dakota feels like she’s sabotaging their relationship, telling her, “You’re going to ruin it eventually if you keep trying.”
In a tearful confessional, Taylor admits, “I’ve pushed Dakota away because I don’t feel like I deserve this happy ending.” The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is currently streaming on Hulu.
