Series scripts were handled by Keiichirō Ōchi, The original character designs by Hanekoto were illustrated by Takayuki Noguchi. Moe Hyūga, recognized for compositions in series like “O Maidens in Your Savage Season” and “Steins;Gate 0,” crafted the music.
The opening theme, “Gift,” was performed by Masayoshi Ōishi, while the ending theme, “Chiisana Koi no Uta” (A Little Love Song), was beautifully rendered by Manaka Iwami.
The previous season starred Taito Ban as Amane Fujimiya, Manaka Iwami as Mahiru Shiina, Taku Yashiro as Itsuki Akasawa, and Haruka Shiraishi as Chitose Shirakawa.
The Plot
In a quiet apartment complex, Amane’s solitary life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Mahiru, the most stunning girl in school, who happens to be his neighbor. Though they’ve hardly exchanged words before, a rainy day changes everything as he lends her his umbrella during a moment of distress.
This small act of kindness sparks a connection between them, and Mahiru offers her assistance around Amane’s home in gratitude. As they spend more time together, a tender relationship gradually blooms, bringing them closer with each passing day.
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten introduces us to a pair of characters: Amane, a rather generic male protagonist serving as an audience surrogate, and Mahiru, who bears similarities to Tsukasa from “Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You.”
Mahiru inexplicably becomes protective of Amane, who remains devoid of defining traits to allow for easy audience projection. Unfortunately, by the third episode, character growth remains absent, and the narrative fails to evolve.
It attempts simplicity, eschewing comedy, melodrama, or fan service, which might make it seem more refined but ultimately leaves it feeling like bland, flavorless entertainment, like unsalted chips.
