Timothée Chalamet is seeing quintuple! Ahead of his unique dual role as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, the A Complete Unknown star enlisted four of his viral lookalikes to help lighten the load in a promo video released for his January 25 episode.
“I’ve never done this before. You know, I’m having to be SNL host and musical guest in the same week, so it’s a lot of work, and I want to focus on the songs,” Chalamet, 29, explains.
The camera then zooms out to reveal four versions of him, each dressed as one of his most iconic characters. “So I brought in some help to cover all the hosting duties.”
“Stuff like meeting with the writers or working on my monologue,” he continues, as the lookalikes, including one dressed as Willy Wonka from Wonka, stand in for him on screen.
“And, of course, you know, listening to Mikey Day brag about hosting Is It Cake?,” he says, while another lookalike dressed as his A Complete Unknown persona rolls his eyes and walks away.
“All things considered, it should be a great show. Oh, sorry,” the actor pauses as his phone beeps. “Oh, I’m supposed to be on Fallon right now!”
As he looks around, Chalamet ultimately decides to send one of his doubles in his place. When the lookalike enters The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon looks confused as the actor’s double goes through the motions of making a gracious entrance.
“He’s good,” Chalamet says to the other lookalikes, watching from a green room. “He’s really good. Yeah, you guys should learn from him.”
This SNL promo is a nod to the viral Timothée Chalamet Lookalike Competition, which took place in October 2024 at New York City’s Washington Square Park.
According to reports from NBC New York, hundreds of fans gathered near the park’s arch around 1 p.m. to watch or participate in the contest, dressing up as the actor’s most famous characters, such as Willy Wonka and Bob Dylan from Chalamet’s biopic A Complete Unknown.
Chalamet surprised the crowd by crashing the unofficial competition. In footage captured by the Associated Press and shared by fans on X, the actor can be seen waving, greeting fans, and posing for photos while maneuvering through a crowd of excited onlookers.
Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
