This award-winning Canadian medical drama follows the life of a refugee who comes to North America to work at a hospital. The fourth season of Transplant is back, and Dr. Bashir has to deal with more cases. This drama isn’t your average emergency room show because it also deals with how people adapt and integrate into hospital life, as well as some complicated medical cases.
Bashir changes along with the show. He is now used to living in Canada, but he also has to deal with people from his past now that he is back in the Middle East. As we’ve seen, he will meet some people who make him remember both good and bad things, which will make for strong character story arc development.
Recap
It’s been quite the ride for Bash this season, both professionally and emotionally, firstly he teamed with Mags to save a couple in the woods. He’s managed to become a complete surgeon. It comes with decision responsibilities, and now he must make the choices, and sometimes, as we’ve seen in past episodes —coupled with his hero complex— that’s managed to ruffle quite some feathers.
Lets see: Bashir not only is trying to get romantically involved, but he also thinks he’s some sort of operating room superhero taking risky patients who might die on the operating table as well as jumping into sinkholes to rescue yet another dude that had the terrible misfortune to fall down there.
Now, as for the supporting characters, we have June looking up for her mentor, we have Theo trying to make telemedicine work, and we see how the hospital administrator makes some budgetary cuts that impact in Bash in ways he didn’t imagine.
Now, as for Mags, her personal story impacts heavily on a man like Bash who has gone through a lot, he’s faced the hurdles of emigrating from his country that’s civil-war-ridden, he’s been looked down upon, and yet he’s still on top professionally, but the balance and the relationship he has to Mags has him thinking in other things.
Then, we stumble upon how the entire York Memorial Hospital team finds out that one of their own must face a life-threatening surgery. The team is hands on and we’re left wondering if they will recover.
