Travis Kelce auctioned off four tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour for a whopping $80,000 during a charity event organized by Patrick Mahomes.
Kelce and Swift were both present at The 15 and Mahomies Foundation Golf Classic gala in Las Vegas last Saturday. The event aimed to raise funds for health, wellness, and community resources benefiting children.
Interestingly, Swift decided to auction off the tickets on the spot, despite them not being originally listed for auction.
“I think, um, I was just talking to my significant other, and uh, we might have one other auction item that wasn’t on the docket,” Kelce said in a video posted to TikTok, as cited.
“Has anybody heard of the Eras tour?” he said. The crowd cheered in response.
Kelce proceeded to reveal that the four tickets were for the upcoming US dates of the Eras Tour, scheduled to hit New Orleans, Miami, Oregon, and Minneapolis later this year.
Harry Santa-Olalla, the auctioneer, confirmed via an Instagram post that the tickets indeed fetched $80,000.
Santa-Olalla further documented the moment when Kelce “persuaded” Swift to put the four tickets up for auction in an Instagram Story, as reported.
Many videos circulating on social media captured Swift and Kelce arriving at the event. Later, footage showed Swift waving a red napkin as the tickets were bid upon.
According to Bloomberg’s estimation, Swift amassed a staggering $1.1 billion in 2023, largely attributed to the resounding success of her Eras Tour.
An analysis conducted by research firm QuestionPro, as cited in a Business Insider report, revealed that the average fan, known affectionately as Swifties, spent approximately $1,300 to attend the Eras Tour in 2023.
In interviews with BI’s Juliana Kaplan, some fans confessed to splurging up to $20,000 on various expenses related to Swift’s tour, encompassing flights, accommodations, costumes, and tickets.
Last year, exclusive data from QuestionPro shared the estimation that Swift’s tour would generate an impressive $2.2 billion in ticket sales across North America alone, even before factoring in the resale market.
