Crunchyroll has revealed that it will now be streaming the English dubbed version of the popular anime adaptation of Hirukuma’s light novel series, “Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon” The anime, which premiered on July 5 on TOKYO MX, AT-X, and BS NTV local channels, will be available for international fans on Crunchyroll.
In the vast and ever-changing world of isekai, tales of reincarnation and fantasy adventures are known to everyone. From being reincarnated into slime to being reincarnated into a baby, we’ve seen it all. Or so we thought. One particular story has emerged as a fusion of comedy and dungeon exploration. Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon is a Japanese light novel series written by Hirukuma and illustrated by Itsuwa Kato. Initially published as a web novel on the novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2016, it was later acquired and released by Kadokawa Shoten.
The manga series, illustrated by Kunieda, was serialized in ASCII Media Works’ shōnen manga magazine, Dengeki Daioh, in 2021. To the delight of English-speaking fans, both the light novel and manga have been officially licensed by Yen Press, giving international fans a chance to read the series.
The staff for the English dub includes Cris George directing the dub and Zach Bolton doing the producing. Chris Patton is overseeing the adaptation, Jose Sandoval is the engineer and Andrew Tipps is the mixer for the dub.
The English dub cast includes Garret Storms voicing Boxxo, Emily Neves voicing Lammis, Marisa Duran voicing Munami, Macy Anne Johnson Suori, Jarrod Greene voicing Karios, Bryan Massey voicing Gorth and finally, Monica Rial voicing Missus.
The Plot of Reborn as a Vending Machine
Our story begins with an obsessed Japanese vending machine otaku, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he’s tragically crushed by a falling vending machine and awakens to find himself reborn in another world. The catch? He’s reborn as a vending machine.
Unable to move freely and limited to stock phrases like “Welcome” and “Too bad,” he is thrown into the wilderness. There, he crosses paths with Lammis, a young and attractive hunter blessed with extraordinary strength but she can’t control it. Their unlikely friendship blossoms as he offers her some snacks, earning the nickname “Boxxo” and becoming her companion.
Together, they go on thrilling adventures, delving into the world’s dungeon and encountering an array of fascinating characters along the way. “Reborn as a Vending Machine” Episode 1 successfully lays down the foundation for a comedic twist to the isekai genre, introducing us to the amusing and endearing journey of Hakkon, who finds himself reincarnated as his beloved vending machine.
