In 2113, society is governed by the all-knowing, all-seeing Sibyl System, a computer that can monitor a person’s mental state and the chances of criminal behavior.
With this system, law enforcement agencies known as the Public Safety Bureau maintain order and peace, ensuring that those with “cloudy hues” in their Psycho-Pass (a reflection of their mental state) are taken care of before they can commit any crimes.
The cast of the English dub includes: Kate Oxley as Akane Tsunemori, Robert McCollum as Shinya Kogami, Jessie James as Nobuchika Ginoza, Cherami Leigh as Mika Shimotsuki, Mike McFarland as Teppei Sugo, Z. Charles Bolton as Sho Hinakawa and Stephanie Young as Dominator.
Supporting cast includes: Lindsay Seidel as Yayoi Kunizuka, Lydia Mackay as Shion Karanomori, Erin Kelly Noble as Frederica Hanashiro, Bruce DuBose as Arata Shindo, and Eduardo Vildasol as Kei Mikhail.
The anime film is directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani and is produced by Production I.G. The scripts were written by Makoto Fukami and Tow Ubukata. The characters’ design and animation direction was handled by Naoyuki Onda. The film’s theme song, Alexithymia Spare, is performed by Ling Tosite Sigure, and the ending theme song, Tōjisha (The One Concerned), is performed by EGOIST.
The Plot of the Movie
It’s January 2118, and Chief Inspector Akane Tsunemori of the Criminal Investigation Department receives a report of a mysterious incident; the body of Professor Milicia Stronskaya has been found on a foreign vessel.
This incident leads Akane to a notorious group known as the Peacebreakers, a foreign paramilitary organization. Their objective? The secret “Stronskaya Document,” a stack of research papers written by Professor Milicia, could shake the foundations of Japan’s government and the all-powerful Sibyl System.

What will Akane and Shinya Kogami do? Will this dynamic duo find the missing link? Or is this the beginning of their destruction? “The Pyscho-Pass anime series is like Minority Report on steroids,” said a review. It fuses a cyberpunk aesthetic with a dark color palette, which will make your eyeballs tingle. It’s a masterpiece. Though it didn’t receive mainstream attention, it’s nothing short of a mind-bending and mind-blowing series.
The movie, Psycho-Pass: Providence received average, not-too-great ratings from its viewers. It was too fast-paced, so the story couldn’t unravel itself neatly. However, all the unanswered questions fans had after season three of the anime series were finally put to rest. The movie is an instant must-watch for Psycho-Pass fans if you want closure from the anime series.
