Premise
Well, the story focuses on an ordinary lawyer, Han Dong-soo, who struggles to make ends meet and transform into a successful lawyer after a surprise encounter with a villain that leaves him questioning his belief system and later abandoning them.
Han Dong-soo picks his cases randomly after he picks a prisoner and visits them, but his rational and reasonable side is challenged after he is triggered by unexpected events in life to cross the line and enter the world of evil.
Han Dong-soo’s younger brother, Han Beom-Jae, brings a client for Han Dong while working at a second-hand computer shop to make ends meet, but things changed after he started noticing a change in his brother’s behavior after he brought a former baseball player to his brother as a client.
The series starts with a seemingly rational and innocent lawyer, Han Dong, witnessing the murder of a woman after he ends up in a place where he wasn’t supposed to be before the scene cuts to him sitting in the prison’s waiting area where a cleaner comes and informs him about his number being called.
Han goes on to meet his client, who thinks Han is a public defender, and he informs the inmate that he could get a year of his prison sentence for a small prize that he will need to pay after Han goes through the inmate’s case file.
Well, as you guessed, Han had to go through prison to find clients because he is unsuccessful as a lawyer struggling at the moment to make ends meet. Thus, he has no other choice than to go around the prison, pitching his idea to the inmates.
Meanwhile, a mysterious inmate continues to bounce a baseball off the wall in the same cell while outside the prison. Dong-soo hides from the lawyers coming in but fails after one of the lawyers notices him and strikes up a conversation with them.
This is where everyone learns that Dong-soo has recently started to work as a lawyer again after he was suspended for three years. The colleague invited Han to a gathering where he might have a chance to meet with other lawyers in hopes of getting a case.
After Dong fails to answer to the colleague, he ends up leaving him an invitation to the gathering, wishing him luck while also advising him to avoid making his services too cheap as it will cause him issues with other lawyers due to them being angry about losing business.
The series then introduces the audience to Han Beom-jae, Dong-soo’s half-brother, working at a second-hand computer shop where he sells a computer at a higher price and uses the extra cash to pocket it for his own use.
What follows is a series of adventures and cases Han Dong-soo takes up to solve before coming across a former baseball player who becomes his client after his half-brother introduces them which ends with the lawyer finally crossing the line and entering the world of evil.
