The Tony-winning actress recently revealed her interest in portraying the iconic X-Men character Storm, describing it as her “dream role.”

Cynthia Erivo Aims to Become X-Men’s Storm in the MCU
Cynthia Erivo recently voiced her ambition to play Storm in a future X-Men movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When asked by the National Board of Review about her dream role, Erivo shared, “I really want to play Storm. I know it sounds frivolous, but I think we haven’t uncovered how grand she is and all of the inner turmoil that she has.”
Marvel Studios has been steadily introducing mutant characters into its cinematic universe.
Notable projects include the animated series X-Men ’97 and the highly anticipated Deadpool 3, which will feature Wolverine.
While Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has yet to confirm a standalone X-Men movie, he has previously indicated that mutants will play a significant role in the MCU’s post-Avengers: Secret Wars phase.
The film, slated for release in 2027, suggests that casting for key X-Men roles, including Storm, could become a priority in the near future.
Fans have been actively speculating about who might play Storm, and many have voiced their support for Erivo taking on the role. Storm, whose real name is Ororo Munroe, is a powerful mutant with the ability to control the weather.
She has been a key member and leader of the X-Men in Marvel Comics. Erivo highlighted her admiration for Storm’s complexity, saying, “I think there’s a world in which we could do something like that.”
Though Storm has not yet officially debuted in the MCU, a variant of the character appeared in What If…? Season 3. In this version, Storm wielded Mjolnir and joined Captain Peggy Carter’s team. However, the mainline version of Storm remains to be introduced.
Meanwhile, Erivo will return as Elphaba in Wicked: For Good, which is scheduled to release in November 2025. Her continued success in major roles adds weight to her aspiration to bring Storm to life on the big screen.
