This new anime installment takes place three decades after the events of the earlier 1989-1990 anime, diving into the evolution of the protagonist’s story and the challenges faced in a world that has changed significantly.
The Setting
The story of every addition or episode is different, but they all feature some basic elements. Firstly, the protagonist, a child prodigy, appears once every 10,000 years and he’s always nick-named, Akuma-kun. Think of JoJo and you can relate.
Another element includes Akuma-kun wishing to create a happy world through the energy of demons. Additionally, the beings referred to as “demons” in the series are not only from Christian lore but also inspired by myths and folk stories from across the globe.
Initially, Akuma-kun is unable to summon demons but receives guidance from Dr. Faust, leading to his success. Dr. Faust also entrusts Akuma-kun with the Solomon Flute, a powerful artifact used by King Solomon to control demons. Lastly, Akuma-kun is accompanied by his “twelve apostles,” loyal subordinates whose roles vary across different adaptations.
