The next expansion for Magic: The Gathering is going to be released pretty soon. War of Spark is the 81st Magic expansion. The expansion is a part of three consecutive sets on the same world. It is also known as the Guilds of Ravnica block. The information about the expansion was released by Wizards of the Coast.
War of Spark is going to come out really soon. The expansion will be released on May 3, 2019. So, there is less than a month remaining for the expansion to be released.
The previous sets on Ravnica have primarily focused on the ten Ravnican guilds. The new set will lay focus on the climax of the Bolas Arc. Mark Rosewater called it an “event set.” This means that it is built around an event rather than the plane. The set will feature 36 planeswalkers cards. A total of 39 if you include the Buy-a-Box promo and two more in the planeswalker decks. Each of the booster pack has a planeswalker card, and all the planeswalkers are new cards.
The new set also has the first major Magic novel. The Gathering Arena, the new War of the Spark cards will be released on April 25, 2019. The cards will be physically released shortly afterward on May 3, 2019.
The main theme of the set is planeswalkers and the cards that interact with them. The set will have the rare mythic planeswalkers, rare and uncommon planeswalkers. All of the thirty-six planeswalkers that are present in the main set have a triggered or a static ability. Twenty uncommon ones have an additional minus loyalty ability. Meanwhile, the thirteen rare ones have both additional plus and minus loyalty abilities. The three mythic rares will have three additional abilities.
There is hardly any time left for the release of the new season. So, you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on it.
