Several of the final scenes and episodes of The Promised Neverland Outsold MHA and Haikyuu, which showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg have reimagined each season since assuming over after show co-creator Dave Erickson in Season 4, will be written by the duo.
The first Walking Dead spin-off, which has been running for eight years and 113 episodes, will come to an end with the upcoming season, according to a statement made by AMC during its appearance at the Television Critics Association winter media briefing.
The 12-episode eighth and final season of Fear, which premieres on May 14 on AMC and AMC+, will be broken into two parts. The first block of six episodes will air immediately after The Walking Dead’s series finale in November 2022.
As per Writers Guild of America West records, Chambliss and Goldberg collaborated on writing episodes 802, 804, 805, and 808 and the final season opener on May 14. The co-executive producer of Fear seasons 6 and 7, Nazrin Choudhury, and Season 7 rookies Calaya Michelle Stallworth and Justin Boyd are additional writers. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is another.
Fear the Walking Dead: Episodes and Their Writers
20 episodes of Fear were co-written by the show’s showrunners, Chambliss and Goldberg, including the Season 4 episodes ‘What’s Your Story?,’ which featured Morgan Jones, played by Lennie James, in an interphase with The Walking Dead, and ‘No One’s Gone’, which seemed to kill off Madison Clark, the series’ main character from the first season played by Kim Dickens.
They appeared in the Season 6 episode ‘The Door,’ which featured the passing of John Dorie who is played by Garret Dillahunt, the 100th episode of the show, ‘Amina,’ which featured the exit of Alicia Clark, played by Alycia Debnam-Carey, and the Season 7 finale, ‘Gone,’ in which it was revealed Madison had survived her apparent demise.
David Johnson is a veteran of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead and the author of such movies as DC’s Aquaman and The Conjuring 2. The most recent episodes of Fear for which Johnson has been credited are ‘The Key’ and ‘Handle With Care’ in Season 6 with Ashley Cardiff, as well as ‘Breathe With Me’ with Choudhury, ‘Ofelia’ with Alex Delyle, and ‘Divine Providence’ with Delyle in Season 7.
Since Season 6, Choudhury has written for the show and served as co-executive producer. He wrote the episodes ‘Welcome to the Club,’ ‘In Dreams,’ ‘USS Pennsylvania,’ and ‘The Raft’ for Season 7. In Season 7, he also co-wrote ‘Mourning Cloak’ with Stallworth and ‘The Raft’ with Nick Bernardone.
Episodes of M. Night Shyamalan’s Wayward Pines, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Blood & Treasure, and Damien, a spin-off of The Omen, are among Choudhury’s other credits outside of the TWD Universe. Both Boyd and Stallworth joined Fear in its seventh season.
Boyd was an executive story editor on the post-apocalyptic fantasy series Sweet Tooth, and Stallworth worked as a senior writer on Netflix’s brief zombie comedy Daybreak. Along with Choudhury, Stallworth co-wrote the exit episode for Althea, ‘Reclamation,’ in addition to ‘Mourning Cloak’ played by Maggie Grace. Till Death’ co-written by Cardiff and Boyd, and ‘Sonny Boy’ co-written by Jacob Pinion and Boyd, farewelled John Dorie Sr played by Keith Carradine.
A seven-year time leap will age up Morgan’s daughter, Mo, who is played by Zoey Merchant, with the archipelago survivor residing under PADRE’s cynical authority in Season 8, which Chambliss and Goldberg have dubbed a reinvention after placing Season 7 against the background of the nuclear-zombie apocalypse.
Every season, they discuss reinventing the show, according to Goldberg. They will introduce PADRE, kind of seeing that for what it is, and removing the location, making this one of the greatest reincarnations they have ever done. But they anticipate that the conditions in which they discover the personalities will surprise everyone. For them, it’s a significant change.
